1. Overview
Weather Experience ("the App", "we", "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains our data practices for the Weather Experience iOS application and website (`weatherexperience.app`).
The app is designed to provide straightforward weather information without requiring user accounts or unnecessary data collection.
2. Weather Data & Optional Location Access
Weather Experience uses Apple WeatherKit to provide current conditions and forecast information.
Location permission is entirely optional. When you request weather for your current location, the app obtains location coordinates using Apple Core Location and sends the requested location to Apple WeatherKit to return the forecast. Weather Experience does not send location data to developer-operated servers or use it for advertising or tracking.
You can manually search for and view weather for any city or location at any time without granting location permission. You may enable or revoke location access whenever you choose via your iOS device settings (Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > Weather Experience).
Apple states that WeatherKit location information is used only to provide forecasts, is not associated with personally identifiable information, and is not tracked between requests. Manual city searches may also use Apple location services to resolve a place into forecast coordinates.
3. In-App Purchases (Remove Ads)
Weather Experience offers an optional in-app purchase to remove advertisements. All in-app purchase transactions are processed securely by Apple using Apple StoreKit.
The app does not collect, store, or process credit card numbers, payment details, or financial information. All billing and transaction handling are managed directly by Apple.
StoreKit provides the app with the product and transaction status needed to unlock or restore the Remove Ads entitlement. Weather Experience does not operate a developer payment server.
4. Advertising & Privacy Choices
Advertising within the app is provided through Google Mobile Ads.
The app enforces Google Limited Ads before Google Mobile Ads is initialized and adds npa=1 to every ad request. AdMob publisher first-party ID and publisher privacy personalization are disabled. The app does not implement App Tracking Transparency, does not include NSUserTrackingUsageDescription, and app-owned code does not access the advertising identifier. Weather Experience does not use advertising data to track users across apps or websites owned by other companies.
Google Mobile Ads may process an IP address (which can estimate coarse location), device identifiers, advertising data, product interactions, crash information, performance information, and other diagnostics for third-party advertising, developer advertising, analytics, and SDK operation. Weather Experience does not receive or maintain this raw SDK data on developer-operated servers. See Google's App Store data disclosure and Google's Privacy Policy for more information.
We use the Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) SDK to present required consent messages before ads can be requested. Where Google requires an ongoing privacy-options entry point, users can open Advertising Privacy Choices in the app's Settings screen to review or update their choices.
5. Accounts, Analytics & Crash Reporting
We build Weather Experience with strict data minimization principles:
- No User Accounts: The app does not require account creation, registration, passwords, or personal profiles.
- No App-Owned Analytics: The app does not include a separate analytics SDK or operate its own analytics tracking system. Google Mobile Ads may process advertising and SDK interaction data as described above.
- No Third-Party Crash Reporting: The app does not use third-party crash reporting SDKs.
6. Data Retention, Privacy Requests & Deletion
Because Weather Experience does not require user accounts and does not store personal user profiles, locations, advertising data, or purchase records on developer-operated servers, there is no developer-hosted app profile to delete. On-device settings and entitlement state remain until the app or its data is removed, while Apple and Google process and retain data under their own policies.
Users maintain full control over on-device permissions and privacy choices:
- Location Access: Manage or revoke location permissions at any time via iOS Settings.
- Privacy Choices: Update advertising consent preferences using the Google UMP options inside the app.
- Support Requests: Information you voluntarily submit through our Google Forms support form is used only to respond to your request and is retained only as long as reasonably needed for support and recordkeeping. You may request deletion through the Support Page.
